Republican Tennessee Rep. Tim Burchett is recovering from an incident connected to a horse, according to a post on social media.
Burchett confirmed that a horse kicked him, resulting in a broken rib, in a post Tuesday on X. His office previously told The Hill that the congressman was “accidentally kicked by a horse” while doing farm work during the weekend.
“He didn’t like being hit by that horse fly, and my rib was collateral damage,” Burchett wrote.
He also suffered bruising but had not altered his schedule, according to press secretary Will Garrett. “He spoke in Maury County last night and has a full slate of district events throughout the week,” the aide said.
However, despite those claims, Burchett rescheduled a planned appearance on The Hill’s “Rising” on Wednesday, according to a source familiar.
Burchett’s young daughter was hospitalized following a horseback riding injury in 2022.
“Count our blessings because she’s alive and that’s all we really care about,” Burchett stated in an interview with WBIR Channel 10. “She’s a tough little girl — she’ll be back on that horse.”
