NEED TO KNOW

  • George Clooney shared his opinion about his fellow ER alum Noah Wyle’s new show, The Pitt

  • The actors starred on ER, which ran for 15 seasons, together as Doug Ross and John Carter

  • Clooney left mid-season 5 while Wyle departed after 11 seasons, though both returned for cameos

George Clooney is weighing in on fellow ER alum Noah Wyle’s new show, The Pitt.

During an appearance on the June 3 episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers, Clooney, 64, told host Seth Meyers he’s seen the Max hit and gave it his seal of approval, saying, “it’s so good.”

Clooney went on to say he and Wyle, 54, have been “really dear friends” since doing the pilot of ER.

“He is just the most honorable, talented young man, I get to say, because I’m an old man,” Clooney continued. “And I cannot be happier for his success on this show. The show is just a beautiful show, and he does just a great job with it.”

Meyers then jokes that unlike Clooney, Wyle is having to go back and learn all the medical terms he would have once known for ER thanks to The Pitt.

“But he never had trouble,” Clooney replied. “He always could do it. And I hated him for that.”

“People should hate Noah,” he teased.

Clooney and Wyle starred together on ER, which ran for 15 seasons between 1994 and 2009, as Doug Ross and John Carter respectively. Clooney received two Emmy nominations for his work while Wyle received five nominations, though neither won.

While Clooney left during the fifth season, Wyle was a main cast member through season 11. Both returned for additional episodes throughout the show’s run.

Wyle recently reunited with fellow ER alums Julianna Margulies and Anthony Edwards, who played Carol Hathaway and Mark Green, at the opening night of Clooney’s Broadway play Good Night, and Good Luck on April 3.

Wyle opened up about the reunion on the April 8 episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show, calling the moment with his former colleagues “amazing” and long overdue.

“We haven’t been in the same room for over a decade, easily,” Wyle said. “And we were all there to support George … and he was tremendous. But even better was just being back in each other’s company. It was really cool.”
