Kirsten Storms joined General Hospital 20 years ago as a recast for Maxie Jones, the daughter of super couple Felicia Jones (Kristina Wagner) and Frisco Jones (Jack Wagner).
The actress was no stranger to the soap world, having appeared as Belle Black on Days of Our Lives. However, playing Maxie was a whole different ballgame for Storms. She said as much in a recent interview with TV Insider to celebrate her 20th anniversary as Maxie.
“It was the first time I ever played a bad girl for an extended period of time, and it was a challenge,” she shared.
Despite the challenge, Storms was excited to join General Hospital but knew little about the show. When she took on the role, she didn’t realize Maxie was a legacy character or know about the infamous storyline involving Maxie receiving BJ’s heart.
Fast-forward two decades, and Storms knows Maxie like she knows herself. Looking back on the past 20 years, Storms shared some of her favorite storylines.
It should surprise no one that the storyline Storms has enjoyed the most is the pairing of Maxie and Spinelli (Bradford Anderson). From their non-wedding, to Maxie keeping their baby a secret, to finding their way back together, Storms has enjoyed every second of Spixie.
“I loved the idea of this fashionista and this extremely intelligent, kind of nerdy young guy falling in love with each other. So that would be my all-time favorite,” the actress expressed.
Life imitated art for Storms when Emme Rylan was recast as Lulu in 2013. The two quickly became real-life besties, which was easy to see when they were in scenes together. They even recently took their daughters on a road trip.

Storms has worked with many soap legends during her time on the ABC soap and created strong bonds with her costars. Those that she enjoys working with the most include Kristina, John York (Mac), and Lynn Herring (Lucy), to name a few.
One of the main reasons Storms loves her job is because of executive producer Frank Valentini. Storms admitted he’s why she stuck around for the “past 13 years” since he took over the show.
“I love working for him,” Storms shared.
Celebrating 20 years as Maxie is an honor for Storms, who called the experience a “crazy ride.” General Hospital fans know Maxie has had quite the run filled with some very entertaining and interesting moments.
Storms couldn’t reflect on her time playing Maxie without giving a shout-out to the fans.
“I thank them for still enjoying me all this time later, for sticking up for not only my character, but me in times when I really needed it. Their support and kindness truly make a difference,” she insisted. “The fans have been amazing to me, and that’s probably one of the biggest reasons I still am even doing my job.”
