The Last of Us star Gabriel Luna has a touching connection with co-star Catherine O’Hara, and fans were touched to learn the “full circle” history they share.
The 42-year-old actor, who plays Tommy on the hit HBO series, took to Instagram following this week’s episode, where his and O’Hara’s character shared a powerful on-screen moment, posting a photo from their moment on set alongside a pair of snapshots from the makeup trailer—one taken recently, and one from a project they worked on together 16 years ago.
“Catherine the Great,” Luna called her, detailing the “privilege” it has been for him to work with her twice. When he was in his mid-twenties, he worked with the now-71-year-old on the HBO film Temple Grandin. Despite having just one day on set, O’Hara “made [him] feel like a regular.”
Naturally, when the two met again on The Last of Us, Luna requested they recreate the phot they “took back in the day,” feeling like “a young whippersnapper who feels like the luckiest dude in the business” on both occasions.
