Former Dancing With the Stars pro Cheryl Burke didn’t hold back while discussing her decision to stay celibate.
“I touch myself all the time,” Burke, 41, candidly told Us Weekly in an interview published on Thursday, August 7. “It’s great. We are good to go. There’s no emotional baggage that comes with it.”
Burke has been open about her decision to stay celibate following her divorce from ex-husband Matthew Lawrence. The former couple met in 2006, while they first started dating in 2007. After they broke up in 2008, the pair reunited in 2017 and got engaged the following year. Burke and Lawrence, 45, got married in 2019, though their love story wasn’t meant to be and they announced their split in 2022.

“I need to heal still in that sense,” she told the outlet while reflecting on the divorce.
The recent interview is not the first time Burke has candidly discussed her decision to abstain from sex. In August 2024, she shared an Instagram Reel that stated her journey began after her divorce.
“Embracing 40, single, and three years of celibacy with confidence and clarity,” she wrote at the time. “This journey is about self-love, growth, and living life on my terms ….”
Alongside the caption, Burke uploaded a video that showed her judgmentally looking around as text onscreen read, “When I mention that I’ve been single and celibate for 3 years …”
Shortly after she opened up about the decision, several of her fans took to the comments section to praise her for prioritizing herself. “Everything you said recently is absolutely right. We’re the only ones who can fill our cup. After putting in the work. Amen Cheryl,” one person commented, and another added, “You gotta do what’s best for you!”
