Ford is recalling over 850,000 vehicles due to a potential low-pressure fuel pump failure, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, NHTSA.

The recalled vehicles’ “low-pressure fuel pump may fail, which can result in an engine stall while driving,” according to NHTSA Campaign Number 25V455000. The stall could increase the risk of a crash.

Ford Motor Company’s recall includes various makes and models from 2021 to 2023.

Which vehicles have been recalled?

The following cars are being recalled due to the issue with the fuel pump:

  • 2021-2023 Bronco

  • 2022 Expedition

  • 2021-2023 Explorer

  • 2021-2022 F-150

  • 2021-2023 F-250 SD

  • 2021-2023 F-350 SD

  • 2021-2023 F-450 SD

  • 2021-2023 F-550 SD

  • 2021-2022 Mustang

  • 2021-2023 Lincoln Aviator

  • 2021-2022 Lincoln Navigator

In total, there are 850,318 vehicles potentially affected by this issue.

What should drivers do if they have the impacted vehicles?

A solution for the recall is under development, according to NHTSA. Owners of the recalled cars will receive a letter notifying them of the risks on July 14, followed by a second letter once a solution to the issue is available. Owners with any questions can call Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. The number for this recall is 25S75.
