Foodnoms nutrition tracking app gets powerful Shortcuts integration in latest update
SHARE

Foodnoms is a powerful nutrition tracking app that I’ve written about before. It’s designed to be fast and easy to use with a design that’s optimized perfectly for Apple platforms, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch.

This week, Foodnoms is getting a big update with completely revamped Shortcuts integration.

The latest version of Foodnoms brings 44 new Shortcuts actions across eight different categories. This includes actions for things like logging your food, tracking and modifying your goals, creating and managing meals, and more.

In a blog post announcing the update, Foodnoms developer Ryan Ashcraft said the goal is to “create an unmatched automation experience that makes nutrition tracking more accessible and flexible than ever.”

Foodnoms has always prioritized making nutrition tracking faster, smarter, and more intuitive. Today, I’m thrilled to announce our most ambitious update yet to Foodnoms’ Shortcuts integration—redesigned from the ground up to take full advantage of Apple’s latest platforms.

We’ve been working on this update for many months, sweating the details and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with current APIs. Our goal was to create an unmatched automation experience that makes nutrition tracking more accessible and flexible than ever. We’re excited to finally offer it to you today.

Additionally, the Foodnoms update includes nine new App Shortcuts that can be accessed via the Shortcuts app, Spotlight, and Siri:

  1. Open Scanner
  2. Open Foodnoms AI
  3. Quick Entry
  4. Search
  5. Open Foodnoms with sub-options for Food Log, Library, Goals, and Settings
  6. Log with options for Food, Recipe, Meal, Favorite, and Drink
  7. Check Goal Progress with a dynamic list of all your active goals
  8. Log Favorites with a dynamic list of your favorites
  9. Copy Meal From Yesterday with a dynamic list of your meal types

Foodnoms also teamed up with Matthew Cassinelli, everyone’s favorite Shortcuts wizard, to create seven pre-built Shortcuts for Foodnoms users. You can view these Shortcuts on the Foodnoms website.

Finally, as Ryan explains, this update to Foodnoms ensures that the app is “future-ready for Apple Intelligence.”

By leveraging the latest Apple-provided APIs like App Intents, App Entities, App Shortcuts, Transferable, and CoreSpotlight—Foodnoms is prepared to integrate with Apple Intelligence features as they become available. While Apple’s current offerings to third-party developers are limited, you can still experience Foodnoms’ Siri integration today. Try saying:

  • “Search in Foodnoms”
  • “Check my Foodnoms Sodium goal”
  • “Open Foodnoms AI”
  • “Open Foodnoms barcode scanner”

You can read more about today’s update on the Foodnoms website, plus watch a few examples of the new Shortcuts features in action. The app is available to download on the App Store.
