Fluminense and Borussia Dortmund played to a scoreless draw on Tuesday afternoon in their Group F opener of the Club World Cup in East Rutherford, N.J.

Borussia Dortmund had the advantage with 54.5 percent of possessions, but Brazil’s Fluminense made the majority of shot attempts, 14-7, and put five shots on goal to three for the Bundesliga side. Dortmund had no shots on goal in the first half.

Fluminense also had the edge in corner kicks, 7-3.

Goalkeeper Fabio made three saves for Fluminense, while his counterpart Gregor Kobel made five.

Yellow cards were assessed to Borussia Dortmund’s Ramy Bensebaini and Yan Couto — who had entered in the 87th minute — and Fluminense’s Martinelli and Nonato. Fluminense had more fouls, 12-9.

Each squad collected one point for the draw. Fluminense next plays Saturday evening against South Korea’s Ulsan Hyundai at the same site, MetLife Stadium. Dortmund faces South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday afternoon in Cincinnati.
