(The Center Square) – Federal agents rode horses late Monday morning into MacArthur Park in Los Angeles’ Westlake District, but local media reported it was unclear whether anyone was arrested.

A Department of Homeland Security helicopter was seen overhead, and military and federal vehicles were seen at the park, according to local media reports. Federal agents were seen on horseback in videos.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass appeared at the park and told reporters that the federal agents needed to leave “because this is unacceptable!” Bass was seen talking to a uniformed U.S. Border Patrol agent, who handed his phone to Bass, so she could talk to an official. It wasn’t clear who she was talking to, according to media reports. She was asking when the agents would leave.

Bass posted a video of the agents on horseback on X and wrote, “Minutes before, there were more than 20 kids playing — then, the MILITARY comes through. The SECOND I heard about this, I went to the park to speak to the person in charge to tell them it needed to end NOW. Absolutely outrageous.”

The Center Square reached out early Monday afternoon to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, but didn’t get an immediate response.
