While everyone is awaiting the final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty, there’s another series drumming up attention with plenty of romance, mystery and intrigue.

“Once upon a time, there was a mythical land where it was always summer,” the trailer for We Were Liars notes,” before teasing that “something terrible happened last summer.”
Prime Video’s series is promising for a handful of reasons—not only is it an adaptation of E. Lockhart’s best-selling psychological horror YA novel We Were Liars, it also hails from JuliePlec and Carina Adly MacKenzie, the brains behind hits like The Vampire Diaries, The Originals and more.
Described as a “tragic love story and an amnesia thriller set on a privately owned island off the coast of Massachusetts,” by Deadline, it focuses on the very weatlhy, seemingly perfect Sinclair family who spend every summer on the island.
But not everything is as it seems… and soon enough, the illusion begins to crack.
Fans immediately took to the comment section to reveal they would be watching for one main reason—Candice King (who played the Caroline Forbes on the aforementioned vampire drama), who plays the youngest Sinclair sister, Bess, who always get her way and is happily maried to a man here father deems worthy of the family dynasty.
“This summer, her perfect family image is dangerously close to shattering… and it may be all her fault,” the synopsis reads.
“If you have Candice, you have my attention ✨️❤️” one fan wrote, with another chiming in with, “OMGGGG CANTTT WAITTT FOR CANDICEEEE 😩😩😩💗💗💗.”
“I will watch anythingggg if Candice King is involved!! Love her,” someone else mused.

More praised King’s casting, with comments such as, “I can not wait to see you shine girl @candiceking AAAAH ✨❤️” and “Can’t wait to see beautiful candice in this show 😍,” as one said it’s the first project of hers they’ve watched since TVD.
Praise for King aside, many championed the book for being “amazing” in its own right, saying that people who haven’t read the book are “NOT ready for this plot twist 😔,” as someone else stated, “People are not ready for this story 😭😭😭 I’m still recovering.”
“i remember throwing this book across the room when I read it so good!!” someone else stated, with another adding, “This book was diabolical I don’t know if I can stand to feel this pain again,” and one more echoing, “Omg I’m gonna end up crying though!!!”
One fan made a point that between this, TSITP, Ginny and Georgia, and Wednesday, no one is going to be “bored” this summer.
