Usher‘s son is following in his famous father’s footsteps!
The R&B icon’s 16-year-old, Naviyd Raymond, is poised to make his music industry debut, taking to social media to reveal some new tunes he’s been working on in addition to showing off his moves—and he was joined by none other than his dear old dad, the “Confessions” hitmaker himself.
In a new video teasing his first single release “Smooth Blues,” a track he solely wrote and produced, Naviyd—whom Usher shares with ex-wife, Tameka Foster, in addition to another son, Usher “Cinco” Raymond V—bopped along with the melody of his song as the “OMG” artist joined in with a few subtle moves of his own, mainly keeping it cool to let his son revel in the spotlight.
On social media, while fans in the comment section of a Instagram Reel applauded his supportive fathering, many couldn’t help but notice how ageless the singer looks.
“Why they look the same age? Lol,” one asked, pointing out the superstar’s youthful look.

As for the track, the rising star admitted to keeping it a secret—even from his loved ones. “I didn’t show the song to the people closest because I didn’t want them to mess with my creative process,” Naviyd told Vibe. “I didn’t show my parents; I barely showed my best friend. I wanted them to hear it with everyone else and then give their opinion because then at that point, I can’t change it, and then it’s stuck like how I wanted it.”
“For my first song, I wanted it to be fully produced and written by me so I could set the standard of my sound and how I truly want it. In a way, I feel like when others produce or write for you, they can’t really capture what u truly know you want. Only you can know that fully,” he explained.
