Amy Sedaris’ Instagram is known for its mix of quirky posts, and recently, she shared a series of throwback photos from The Talented Mr. Ripley. The pictures, which featured Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett and Philip Seymour Hoffman, capture the cast in their early years, and fans couldn’t get over their timeless beauty.
“Perfect movie,” Sedaris captioned the carousel of images shared via Instagram on August 10. “Golden light, coastal glamour, and a cast at the height of their allure — Jude Law, Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cate Blanchett, and Philip Seymour Hoffman on the Italian set of The Talented Mr. Ripley, captured by Pamela Hanson and Brigitte Lacombe.”
The first snap showed Paltrow and Law walking out of the ocean, and the Ironman star had her arms thrown around Law’s neck while a big grin was plastered across her face. Both of the actors were sunkissed, and Paltrow’s golden bronze skin was especially noticeable next to her bleached blonde hair. Another photo featured Damon, Law and Paltrow sitting on a bench together as they smiled for the camera.

Fans flooded the comments section with love for both the actors in the pictures and the film itself.
“Nobody has ever looked more like a star than Jude Law in this film. Damon’s best work. I watch it annually,” one Instagram user wrote.
Another person added, “Great movie. Ralph Lauren could have been the costume designer, because it was like watching a polo ad. Beautiful!”
A third couldn’t get over Law’s gorgeous features, “Jude Law being more beautiful than any man or woman in the entire movie,” while a fourth person described Hoffman’s role in the movie as “brilliant.”
Earlier this summer, as Paltrow recorded an episode of “The goop Podcast” from Naples, Italy, she recalled some of the complicated emotions that are intertwined with her time filming The Talented Mr. Ripley in the same place. While shooting the movie, she learned that both her father and her grandfather were diagnosed with cancer within weeks of each other during that time.
“My father and my grandfather were both diagnosed with cancer within six weeks of each other when I was on that film. And I was in a very tough place personally,” the Royal Tenenbaums star said during the June 22 episode. “And it’s interesting, you know, coming back to a certain place again, older, happier, more settled in a different frame of mind completely.”
