I know, I know. It barely feels like spring, especially with how unpredictable the weather has been. But the fashion industry works a season ahead, so back in February, we previewed the styles that’ll be hitting the shelves this upcoming fall and winter. Now if you’re like, “I just put away my coats,” I get it. But if you take pride on staying on top of the trends, keep scrolling, because I’m here get you up to date on the Fall/Winter 2025 fashion trends that’ll be making waves in a few months.

A Fresh Take on Exposed LingerieThe Return of Polka Dots and SpotsExtra-Shiny Vinyl TexturesThe Art of Elevated LoungewearPattern Mix-and-Matching

What’s in the queue? Polka dots are making a comeback, for one. Spots appeared on the Sandy Liang, Alexander McQueen, Isabel Marant, Moschino, David Koma, and Fendi runways. Pattern mixing is having a moment, too, so take that as your permission to wear all of your prints at the same time. And exposed lingerie is unsurprisingly still in, although 2025’s version feels fresh—think bras over tops, transparent swaths of fabric, and satin straps subtly peeking out from underneath cashmere sweaters. Ready to dive in? All of that sartorial goodness and more, below.

A Fresh Take on Exposed Lingerie

Your top drawer is about to become your greatest asset for accessorizing, because visible bras and underpinnings were alllll over the runways for Fall/Winter ’25. Think layered with transparent tops (see: Givenchy and Di Petsa), revealed under a blazer or jumpsuit, or peeking out from a shirt that slips off the shoulder à la Miu Miu. Like, you didn’t painstakingly pick out the prettiest lingerie out there just for nobody to see it, did you?

The Return of Polka Dots and Spots

Stripes, plaid, and checkered prints have all had their moment—now, it’s time for polka dots to make a roaring comeback. Give dots their flowers, please! A classic black-and-white is timeless but don’t sleep on the mixed-size dot prints that Moschino showed or the bright red moment that Fendi gave us.

Extra-Shiny Vinyl Textures

Saint Laurent, Maison Margiela, Gucci, Burberry, Diesel, Ludovic San Serin, Tom Ford, and more fully embraced the vinyl trend this season (like, to count every runway show that featured some form of vinyl fabric on my fingers, I’d need an extra hand). Everything looked extra slick and waterproof thanks to the plasticky fabrics seen in the form of trench coats, raincoats, and even floral dresses.

The Art of Elevated Loungewear

If there’s one thing designers know, it’s the power of good fabric. With the right styling, a silk set or luxurious robe can actually transition into your daytime wardrobe. Just take a look at the slip dress that Miu Miu sent down the runway and the maximalist silk robes that Valentino used in lieu of a blazer—both styles prove that luxe fabrics don’t have to be reserved for your bedroom.

Pattern Mix-and-Matching

Good news: You can recreate this trend at home with pieces you already own and love. Power clashing—intentionally mixing different prints and patterns—is the new styling trick on the block. There’s no one “right” way to do it—Chopova Lowena went all-in on the embellishments and lace, whereas Dries Van Noten took a more subtle approach with rich, bohemian swirls and stripes in coordinating colors.
