A touching moment of Ozzy Osbourne meeting fellow music legend Paul McCartney is striking a chord with fans following the recent death of the Black Sabbath frontman.
In a 2001 interview on the Howard Stern show — which was posted to the show’s Instagram account on Friday — the radio host let Osbourne and wife Sharon Osbourne know that he was chatting with the Beatles rocker next, a scheduling coincidence that sparked the incredible meeting.

“I’ve been in his presence, I’ve never actually spoke to him,” Osbourne said on the air. “Everything the guy’s ever done has been incredible, guy’s a genius.”
Cameras then followed the Osbourne into the hall to meet McCartney and captured the sweet moment.
“Finally I get to meet you, it’s great to meet you, man,” the “Crazy Train” singer said to McCartney after they hugged. “It’s been a lifetime ambition of mine…you guys made me start music.”
After the two said goodbye Osbourne sweetly said to the camera, “It’s like my dream came true today, hold on to your dreams.”
And fans were just as delighted to see the iconic meeting.
“Wow. Love how even legends have idols,” one wrote, while another observed that the moment was “very wholesome for the Prince of Darkness.”
“Thank you guys for giving us this epic moment,” a third said.

Osbourne died on Tuesday just weeks after his “Back to the Beginning” tribute show. His family confirmed his death in a statement posted to his Instagram.
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” the statement read. “He was with his family and surrounded by love.”
