Duchess Sophie knows that any look can be transformed with the right accessories.
On Monday, July 7, the Duchess of Edinburgh began her day at St. Paul’s Cathedral, where she attended a 20th anniversary memorial service in honor of the victims of a July 2005 terror attack. At the service, Sophie stepped out in a long-sleeve, midnight-blue maxi dress from Proenza Schouler, which featured a pattern of white florals and a ruffled asymmetrical skirt.
To complete the look, Sophie layered on a navy Max Mara blazer, as well as some coordinating accessories, including a croc-embossed Sophie Habsburg clutch and a pair of suede Romy pumps from Jimmy Choo. For a bit of sparkle, she popped on some rose gold diamond earrings from Chopard.
Of course, when you’ve got a busy royal schedule, you have to know how to make quick outfit changes, and Sophie used a simple trick to transform her look later in the day.
As she headed to Wimbledon that afternoon, Sophie was spotted wearing the same dress, but styled it with a white blazer from Altuzarra instead. It was the perfect swap—the all-navy look from earlier had suited the formal setting, but the touch of white helped make the look more fitting for the tennis championships.
Sophie kept the rest of her look consistent, wearing the same jewelry and simply adding some shades to help block that summer sun (and give her outfit an even sportier touch).
It’s not every day that you go from a memorial service to a tennis match, but regardless of the setting, we can always count on the British royals to give us the best summer styling inspiration.
