Dub, a fast-growing investing platform enabling users to automatically copy the stock trades of financial influencers, investors, and public figures, has secured $30 million in Series A funding, the company announced last week.

The round was co-led by Notable Capital and Neo, with participation from Sandberg Bernthal Venture Partners, Peak6 Strategic Capital, and Correlation Ventures. Additionally, Dub revealed a $5.5 million venture debt facility from Silicon Valley Bank.

A New Approach to Retail Investing Gains Momentum

Founded in 2021 by Harvard dropout Steven Wang, Dub is tapping into a generational shift in investment behavior. Instead of focusing on traditional stock picking, the app encourages users to follow people whose investment strategies they trust, according to Fortune.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has emerged as a popular figure on the platform, with over 13,000 users opting to mirror her trades, Fortune reported. Pelosi’s high-performing portfolio, publicized through financial data aggregators like Quiver Quantitative, has drawn widespread interest for years.

According to Fortune, Dub’s traction reflects a broader trend among younger investors, who are increasingly influenced by online communities and social media rather than institutional advisors. Wang said this model simplifies investing and lowers the barrier to entry by transforming complex decisions into followable actions.

Dub’s early momentum was fueled by a high-powered seed round led by Tusk Venture Partners and supported by a diverse group of heavyweight backers across finance, tech, and entertainment. According to a statement in February 2024, investors include Uber (NYSE:UBER) CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, Robinhood (NASDAQ:HOOD) co-founder Nathan Rodland, Apex Fintech Solutions CEO Bill Capuzzi, former Federal Reserve vice chair and TIAA CEO Roger Ferguson Jr., and OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder.

Retail Access Meets Influencer Strategy

Dub’s core feature, a one-tap system to replicate another user’s portfolio, offers users a way to invest by following real people they trust. The platform is designed to help users build wealth alongside stock influencers, expert investors, or even peers. In contrast to platforms that promote speculative trading, Dub positions itself as an educational and transparent marketplace focused on long-term strategy.

The company’s creator program, operated through Dub Advisors, rewards verified portfolio creators with royalties. This system monetizes financial knowledge by turning curated strategies into investable products. According to Dub’s statement last week, this feature creates a new financial class of investor-influencers, who benefit both from the performance of their portfolios and the community engagement they generate.

This model addresses persistent gaps in market participation. According to Dub, nearly 40% of Americans still do not own any stock, while 88% of equity wealth is concentrated in the hands of the wealthiest 10%. Wang says on the app’s website that Dub is designed to reverse this imbalance by offering tools that empower first-time and everyday investors to make informed decisions without needing to master market analysis themselves.

Investors Back a Platform Built for the Next Generation

The $30 million funding round marks a vote of confidence from high-profile investors who believe Dub is building more than just another investing app. Hans Tung, managing partner at Notable Capital and a Dub board member, said in Dub’s statement that the platform addresses the needs of retail consumers while also spotlighting proven investors who might otherwise remain under the radar.

Ali Partovi, CEO at Neo echoed this sentiment, describing Dub’s ambitions as “breathtaking” and positioning the company as a catalyst in the emerging creator-investor economy.

Dub has now raised $47 million in total and surpassed one million downloads. With the latest funding, the company plans to expand its feature set, scale its infrastructure, and make regulated, transparent copy-trading available to a wider audience.
