Key Takeaways
Dua Lipa wore a black-and-white polka dotted French manicure for a recent beach vacation and front row seat at Paris Fashion Week.
Her commitment to the style proves polka dots have major versatility and are going to be everywhere this summer.
If you’re ever concerned whether or not something is “in,” my best advice is to look at Dua Lipa’s Instagram feed. The pop star has amazing taste, and if you spy a look—or even a book!—in a post from a few weeks ago, that probably means it’s the hottest thing in the current moment. She’s just ahead of the curve.
Most recently, Lipa signed off on this summer’s polka dot manicure trend. It’s not like we needed to hear it from her (Hailey Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, and Addison Rae were already all about it), but there’s comfort in knowing the 29-year-old is in agreement. Also… the more polka dot inspiration, the better.
Dua Lipa’s Polka Dot French Manicure

Lipa first showed off her polka dot French manicure in an Instagram post while vacationing (duh) in Spain. Her medium-long, rounded almond fingernails boast a pinky-nude base shade and black French tips dotted with white polka dots. A couple of her nails even got the full polka dot treatment, with the spots extending from the tips down to the cuticle, covering the base on their way.

Celebrity manicurist Michelle Humphrey was behind the style. Though she’s based in London, there’s no telling where in the world the nail appointment took place. A few days later, Lipa traveled to Paris for fashion week. At the Schiaparelli show, she once again showed off the mani… proving once and for all that polka dots are a neutral. They work on the beach. They work front row.

Dua Lipa’s Polka Dot-Matching Style
While vacationing, Lipa smartly paired her manicure with a black studded bikini; it gave the same energy as the nail art. Later, she switched into an animal print swimsuit, then a black and green number. At one point, a lace halter gown entered the picture. And, when she went back to work, there was that feathered white Schiaparelli number with a keyhole cutout, of course.
The big lesson here? Polka dots match everything! With every outfit—both haute couture and beach coverup—Lipa proved how versatile the manicure can be.
When I see you with your own dotted nails in a couple of weeks time, I’ll know exactly who sent you. Thanks for the inspo, Dua. Vacation (and polka dots) forever.
