Donny Osmond Reflects on One of His ‘Favorite’ Memories of Elvis Presley originally appeared on Parade.
From one iconic performer to another. Donny Osmond is looking back on one of his favorite memories of the late King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley.
In a resurfaced clip posted to his Instagram page on Tuesday, Aug. 5, Osmond looked back on a memory of Elvis that he will “never forget,” recalling a time he watched the “Suspicious Minds” singer perform at the Hilton in Las Vegas.

“I must have been about 13 or 14 years old,” Osmond explained in the clip, which was originally taped during a 2004 appearance on The Michael Parkinson Channel.
Noting that Elvis used to send Osmond and his family flowers in the shape of a guitar before their shows, said he remembered the music icon would “come back stage and wish us well” when they performed at the same venues. He also noted that Elvis would sometimes call his mom Olive Osmond, saying “Hello Mrs. Osmond,” in his famous southern drawl.

“But what impressed me about him was that he could grab an audience in the palm of his hand and just manipulate that audience with emotion,” Osmond said. “But what was really cool, is when he came off stage, he shut it off and he was a real person.”
“That’s what really impressed me about him,” Osmond recalled in the old clip.
Fans couldn’t help but notice that Osmond, now 67, seems to have taken after Elvis over the years, with several Instagram users pointing out similarities between the two performers, even long after Elvis’ tragic death in 1977.
“Wow you really learned from him! You do the exact same thing. Captivate an audience to the point where it’s mesmerizing, but are so humble and normal off stage 💜,” one of Osmond’s fans wrote in the comments.
“You are the exact same,” someone else added. “A star on stage but like a friend off stage. That’s why we love ya!”
