President Donald Trump is reportedly weighing a pardon for Sean “Diddy” Combs.

The White House has reportedly been in contact with Diddy’s legal team and Trump is “more than open” to issuing a pardon, TMZ reported Wednesday — but only after Judge Arun Subramanian rules on the rapper’s latest bail request. Sources told the outlet that Trump won’t act until after sentencing if bail is granted, but could make an immediate decision if it’s denied. Diddy was convicted on two counts of violating the Mann Act, which prohibits transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution. The charges stemmed from allegations involving Cassie Ventura and an unnamed Jane Doe. He was acquitted on the more serious counts of racketeering conspiracy and two counts of sex trafficking.

Sources told TMZ that Trump feels personally connected to Diddy’s case, believing the rapper was unfairly targeted by federal agents. Trump’s Justice Department recently fired lead prosecutor Maurene Comey — the daughter of former FBI Director and longtime Trump foe James Comey. Insider suggested the pardon could also serve as a timely distraction from renewed scrutiny over Trump’s ties to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
