Dolly Parton is not only a music legend but also a national treasure. She’s been singing and creating music for more than 50 years, and her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, has been by her side every step of the way.
Carl passed away on March 3rd in Nashville at the age of 82, and life without him has been quite an adjustment. In a heartfelt interview with the TODAY Show, Dolly opened up about how she’s coping in a life without him.
Spending every day with someone for 60 years is a true gift, and Dolly and Carl shared an incredible relationship. We admire how Dolly keeps it real, openly acknowledging how difficult it’s been to find new routines and habits in life without him.
Fortunately, her work has kept her busy and has been a source of comfort during this chapter of her life. As she shared, “I’ll always miss him, of course. I’ll always love him.”

Dolly shared that she had received cards, letters, and flowers from all over the world. In true Dolly fashion, she ended with a touch of humor, saying, “I had no idea that Carl Dean was so famous!” This is why everybody loves her!
We’re glad to hear that Dolly is doing as well as she can. Losing a lifelong partner is unimaginable and never easy. Thankfully, she’s surrounded by loving family, friends, and fans who continue to support her through what is surely one of the most difficult times in her life.
