Nobody is doing it like Doechii.
The Grammy winning rapper and budding style icon made sure to impress for her first ever Met Gala appearance. For the special night, Doechii wore a custom Louis Vuitton tuxed jacket—emblazoned with the fashion house’s signature “LV” logo—with matching checkerboard shots and a contrasting mahogany tie. The star’s glam was just as intricate for the evening, wearing another “LV” logo delicately stamped on her cheek and opting to wear her hair in a gorgeous natural afro. Doechii shared on the red carpet that she worked directly with Louis Vuitton’s men’s creative director Pharrell Williams for her debut look.
Of course, the rapper made sure to serve a few looks leading up to the first Monday in May, too. Doechii paid homage to the late Andre Leon Talley while out and about in New York City over the weekend, wearing a full Louis Vuitton look that included a track suit, LV-logo embellished tennis rackets and matching luggage as well as a terrycloth towel glamorously draped across her shoulders. The look was reminiscent of one that the famous editor wore decades prior. With this year’s gala theme being Superfine: Tailoring Black Style and corresponding exhibition celebrating the Black Dandy in American fashion, many famous faces are expected to pay homage to the late editor at this year’s event.

Doechii of course has been expanding her fashion footprint over the last year thanks to her collaborative relationship with her stylist, Sam Woolf.
“She has a vision and she knows exactly what she wants—but it’s always very collaborative,” the stylist told Harper’s Bazaar of working with the star rapper. “I think it’s always just about interpreting it in a way that no one else would do. Doechii pushes me. She’ll say, ‘Well, everyone would do that, so what else can we do?’ We’re always looking at runway looks that can inspire larger ideas, whether it’s a photoshoot or a whole rollout. No matter what, we’re going to keep pushing the envelope.”
