Dems Resort To Cringe Theatrics As Trump’s ‘Big, Beautiful’ Bill Rolls Toward Finish Line

Several Democratic lawmakers have been attempting to protest President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful” bill with a variety of theatrical stunts.

Congressional Democrats have been in part striving to publicly oppose the president’s budget bill by posting widely-panned content on social media. In addition, the Democratic Doctors Caucus held a press conference outside of House Speaker Mike Johnson’s office on Wednesday while wearing white doctor’s jackets — but they were repeatedly interrupted by slews of tourists walking in front of them.

The caucus of Democratic lawmakers said it is “dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of Americans, advancing pragmatic health care policy,” in a March press release announcing its launch. The caucus’ six members are Democratic Reps. Ami Bera of California, Herb Conaway Jr. of New Jersey, Maxine Dexter of Oregon, Kelly Morrison of Minnesota, Raul Ruiz of California, and Kim Schrier of Washington, according to the press release. The representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Additionally, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries posted a photo of himself posing with a baseball bat on Instagram on Tuesday, writing in the social media post’s caption that “House Democrats will keep the pressure on Trump’s One Big Ugly Bill.”

Several commenters on Jeffries’ social media post appeared to poke fun at it, with one commenter writing “who thought this photo was a good idea,” while another wrote “this ain’t it bro.”

Republican North Carolina Rep. Virginia Foxx called the post “Low energy” in response to the Daily Caller on X.

Jeffries’ office did not immediately respond to the DCNF’s request for comment.

Furthermore, Democratic California Rep. Eric Swalwell uploaded a series of profanity-laced videos to social media where he referred to the Trump-backed legislation as the “big bullshit bill.” One of the videos began with a man asking the congressman, “what the fuck is up with [Vice President] JD Vance?”

The Democrats’ attempts to paint Trump’s sweeping tax and immigration bill in a negative light come after several recent polls have notably shown that many Americans disapprove of the party’s leadership in congress.

Johnson touted Trump’s spending bill on Wednesday, writing in a post to X that the legislation is “essential to enacting” the president’s “America First” agenda.

“The One Big Beautiful Bill is essential to enacting @POTUS’s AMERICA FIRST agenda,” Johnson wrote in the social media post. “There is no time to delay. We NEED this bill for a safer, stronger, and more prosperous country.”
