Democrats are hoping to win over red state voters this summer with a tour featuring prominent progressives from their party, including Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Texas.
The tour, titled “We Won’t Back Down: F*** Around and Flip the House,” will feature a slate of Democratic lawmakers traveling to states like Nebraska and Arizona in hopes of flipping GOP-held seats in 2026. Democrats plan to frame Republican-backed policies — including the GOP’s recently passed “Big Beautiful” reconciliation package — as giveaways to billionaires, as well as an attack on healthcare and the environment.
“This summer, we’re hitting the road with outspoken leaders who are with us in the fight against President Trump and Republicans, who are selling us out to benefit the richest Americans,” reads the tour’s description. “Are you ready to hold Republicans accountable for taking away our health care and our rights to hand out tax cuts to billionaires?” (RELATED: Democrats’ Medicaid Meltdown Totally Ignores Inconvenient Facts)

Ironically, the tour is sponsored by MoveOn.org, a progressive group that has received over $2.5 million from billionaire mega-donor George Soros’s Open Society Foundations. MoveOn.org has also received hundreds of thousands of dollars from major Democrat-aligned groups like the Sixteen Thirty Fund and the Tides Foundation.
Crockett, who recently described President Donald Trump as a “wannabe Hitler,” will be unleashed in Arizona to persuade voters in districts currently controlled by Republican Reps. Juan Ciscomani and David Schweikert. Crockett will be joined by Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut and Rep. Yassamin Ansari of Arizona.
Democrats are expected to focus heavily on recent Republican-led changes to Medicaid included in the reconciliation bill, which projects over $1 trillion in long-term savings.
Democrats have accused the Medicaid provisions in the Republicans’ One Big Beautiful Bill Act of being extreme and unprecedented, including Warren, who said Republicans are “slashing Medicaid to pay for billionaires’ tax breaks.” Warren will travel to Nebraska in August as part of the “We Won’t Back Down” tour in hopes of flipping the seat being vacated by Republican Rep. Don Bacon to Democrats.
However, Democrats’ characterization of the Medicaid changes omits essential context, such as the 51% surge surge in Medicaid spending since 2019. They also misrepresent reforms that mainly target a widely exploited funding loophole and introduce work requirements for able-bodied enrollees.
Despite Democrats arguing that Republicans are “taking away healthcare,” Medicaid spending is still projected to grow significantly over the next decades, albeit at a slower rate than it would in the absence of the changes.
Maxwell Frost of Florida, who traveled to El Salvador to meet with alleged MS-13 gangbanger and human trafficker Kilmar Abrego Garcia, will join Warren in Nebraska.
The GOP’s removal of many of Biden-era green energy subsidies and tax credits through the reconciliation bill has also become a key talking point for Democrats, who warn that the changes will cause “climate upheaval.” However, climate change consistently ranks low on voters’ list of concerns, especially among Republican and Republican-leaning swing voters Democrats are hoping to persuade.
Since its devastating defeat in 2024, the Democrat Party has struggled to chart a clear path forward. The party remains divided over whether to moderate their stances — which alienated even the most historically loyal Democrat constituents — or to embrace progressive figures such as Zohran Mamdani, who secured the party’s nomination for New York City mayor.
