Demi Moore is looking back on her iconic bikini scene in Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.
The 62-year-old Oscar nominee starred in the 2003 blockbuster alongside Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu, playing an Angel who goes bad.
One of her notable scenes for the film involved her and Diaz hitting the beach in bikinis. During a Tuesday, May 13, appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Moore revealed that she only had a few weeks to prepare for the scene and had one big request for the director: not to be filmed from behind.
“All I remember is begging them not to shoot my butt,” Moore admitted. “I don’t know why that was my obsession.”

Moore continued, explaining that she didn’t have a lot of time to prepare for the role after director Joseph McGinty Nichol reached out to her.
“You know, he called me to start shooting [in] three-and-a-half weeks,” she recalled. “And I had no time to think about what I looked like, which was almost better.”
She added that she was able to “compartmentalize” and just approach the scene head-on.
Barrymore was shocked by the revelation, saying that Moore looked fantastic.
“No one can do in three weeks what you showed up with. So you were clearly good to go,” she gushed to her former costar. “Like there’s no magic wand that gets you to that in three weeks. I’ve done a three-week diet. I didn’t end up there.”
For Moore, she said that she was surprised by the focus on her appearance in the film, adding that it was enhanced thanks to her age as she turned 40 while they were filming.
“I think I wasn’t prepared for the focus that happened from it. I had no idea the amplification, ironically, that was specifically tied to my age,” she said years after the movie premiered.
Speaking to Elle in November 2024, Moore noted that people thought she “shouldn’t have a body that was desirable” at that age, adding that she “challenged” the perception.
“I feel like we all have a role to play in life, to be of service, and for whatever reason, I feel like that has been something I’ve been called to do,” continued Moore. “But I don’t think it would’ve been such a big deal if I hadn’t been of an age that, at that time, it was already determined that you should look like s—.”

Looking back on the movie with Barrymore, Moore added that she talked to her daughters — Rumer, 36, Tallulah, 31, and Scout Willis, 33, all of whom she shares with ex Bruce Willis — about filming the movie and getting back to work after taking a break to be their mom.
“I had taken a break only to be with them. I stopped and was just with them until they finally were like, ‘You have to do this movie. We love the first one. You have to do this movie. And please, aren’t you going to ever work again?’ ” she recalled her daughters telling her.
The three joined her, Bruce and her then-partner Ashton Kutcher at the movie’s June 2003 premiere in Hollywood, Calif.

Moore was also surprised by how long it’s been since they filmed the movie, saying, “Doesn’t it feel in some ways like a lifetime and also like a flash?”
Speaking to PEOPLE in April 2025, the actress reflected on her diet and focus on her body during her time in Hollywood. She recalled doing “crazy things [with] diet and exercise,” saying it was, “All because I had placed so much value on what my outsides looked like.”
After starring in G.I. Jane, which required a dramatic body transformation, Moore said that she was able to ease back on her control.
“I stopped trying to control my food, and I had a moment of surrender where I just let go and really understood what it meant to be in acceptance of my body as it is, even though it’s not the body I wanted. I really let go,” she said. “I remember just asking to be my natural size because I didn’t know what it was anymore. I had three pregnancies. I had done all of this diet and exercise and controlled and changed it. And I didn’t know. So I just let go.”
For her, now, “it’s so much more about my overall health and well-being. It’s much more about longevity and quality of life. And I think I’ve evolved into greater gentility towards myself.”
