The Democratic Doctors Caucus held a press event outside House Speaker Mike Johnson’s office on Wednesday to protest President Donald Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill,” but were drowned out as tourists walked in front of them.

Democratic Oregon Rep. Maxine Dexter, flanked by fellow members of the caucus, delivered remarks as they all donned doctor’s outfits. Numerous tourists could be seen walking in front of them throughout Dexter’s speech. (RELATED: Senate GOP Slashes Spending In ‘Big, Beautiful’ Bill As Fiscal Hawks Push For More Cuts)

“We are the Democratic Doctors Caucus,” Baxter said before her words were drowned out by the tourists.

“Let me be clear: the big ugly betrayal bill will hurt people … This is not fiscal responsibility, it’s a smash and grab robbery of our healthcare system to give billionaires tax breaks,” she could be heard saying over the noise.

The Democratic Doctors Caucus includes all six of the Democratic physicians currently serving in the U.S. House of Representatives, according to a press release on Democratic California Rep. Raul Ruiz’s website. It focuses on advocating for Americans’ health and well being, practical health care policy and offering information on crucial health-related topics to other members of the House.

“This caucus will not be silent while Donald Trump trades lives for luxury,” Baxter added. “The American people deserve to know exactly what it is that’s being done in their names, in their democracy. And we are here to make sure of that.”

The Senate approved Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” on Tuesday as senators voted 51 to 50, with Republican Sens. Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Rand Paul of Kentucky and Susan Collins of Maine opposing Trump’s vast domestic policy legislation.

Dexter previously screamed during a February rally that the Democratic Party needs to “fuck” Trump as American Federation of Government Employees gathered on Capitol Hill and rallied “to save the civil service” and oppose the president’s push to downsize the federal government’s workforce.

Moreover, she was one of four House Democrats who raced to El Salvador to stand up for alleged MS-13 member Kilmar Abrego Garcia and stayed in a luxury hotel with panoramic views of the country’s greenery, the Daily Caller News Foundation reported in April.
