Delaware governor: The party that wins future elections is ‘whoever delivers for Americans’

Delaware Gov. Matt Meyer (D) said he believes the party that will win future elections is the one that “delivers for Americans.”

Meyer joined NewsNation’s “The Hill,” with host Blake Burman shortly after fellow Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker (Ill.) blasted “do-nothing Democrats” for their lackluster opposition to the GOP.

“I think the party that’s going to win, the person that’s going to win the future, is whoever delivers for Americans,” Meyer said.

Meyer noted that in Delaware, he’s seen public schools failing children, people struggling with their 401k’s and veterans laid off from federal positions because of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

“We can sit here and complain about it, and you know, cause havoc, but what we need to do first and foremost is make sure we’re delivering for people in this very challenging time,” Meyer said.

Meyer noted that this is something Pritzker is trying to do for his constituents in Illinois.

His remarks come after Pritzker delivered a keynote address at the New Hampshire Democratic Party’s McIntyre-Shaheen 100 Club Dinner.

“Never before in my life have I called for mass protests, for mobilization, for disruption. But I am now,” Pritzker said. “These Republicans cannot know a moment of peace.”

Pritzker criticized members of his own party for not listening to everyday Americans, saying they are “flocking to podcasts” instead of caring about the struggles of working families.

“Those same do-nothing Democrats want to blame our losses on our defense of Black people, of trans kids, of immigrants, instead of their own lack of guts and gumption,” he said.

Meyer reiterated a similar message on Monday.

“The Republican Party right now, actually, for a decade, has chosen a person, and whatever that person says or does, that’s what the policy of the party is,” Meyer said. “The Democratic Party is different. We’re a party of policy. We’re a party of people that’s truly going to deliver for people.”

Meyer noted that there are issues like higher prices, deportations and fewer jobs that deserve for people to head to the streets in protest.

“But there’s also issues where we have to deliver. The overwhelming majority of Americans, right, are looking for someone who’s going to deliver for them,” Meyer said. “That means increasing services and reduced cost. What we’re seeing now our of Washington is increasing cost and reduced services.”
