‘Days of Our Lives’ Star Breaks Silence on Reports He’s Leaving Show originally appeared on Parade.
Al Calderon, who started playing the character Javi on Days of Our Lives last year, finally broke his silence on reports that he was leaving the popular soap opera.
The actor recently left fans reeling after he announced that he had been cast in NBC’s Brilliant Minds as a series regular in Season 2, leading many to believe that he would be departing Days of Our Lives.
On Aug. 6, Calderon shared a message on his Instagram Stories, finally addressing the situation, starting by saying, “My time on Days of Our Lives has been truly life-changing. I’m endlessly grateful to the cast, crew, and creatives who made me feel seen, valued, and part of a legacy of family.”
“I’ll carry the love, lessons, and memories with me on every journey I go on. While I’m just a small grain of sand, I’m just happy I got to pass through the hourglass,” he went on, confirming that he will be officially leaving the show. “As my mom used to tell me—it’s not goodbye, just see you later. I love you forever @dayspeacock.”

While Calderon’s statement made it clear that he will not be playing Javi for much longer, a representative for Days of Our Livespreviously said, “Fans should not worry, Javi is alive and well in Salem,” hinting that the role will be recast after Calderon leaves.
