This past May Days of Our Lives Noel Maxam assumed his role as executive producer of the peacock streaming soap opera. While his influence will not be seen for some time on-screen, the executive has spoken about his experience on the show.
Maxam was interviewed by Soaps.com about his experience on the show. “The cast and crew has a dedication to their work that I’ve not seen to this level before.” He excitedly explained. “They really take their work to heart and believe in what they’re presenting and feel and responsibility to bring their best work, really, from props all the way through the cast to the writers, it’s really an extraordinary group.”

With the show now fully transitioned from broadcast to streaming, as the show streams exclusively on Peacock, the executive was asked if there is any temptation to push boundaries. Maxam responded, “We want them to be comfortable and yet challenged.” He then went on to explain “So if I say pushing the boundaries, I’d say it’s more thematically and through emotions and what each character is going through more than I would say subject matter or experiential through the human condition, that’s what we go for.”
With the show’s recent renewal, it is guaranteed to air on the streaming service for two additional seasons, taking the fan favorite series through 2028. With this in mind, Maxam was asked what fans have to look forward to. He teased, “Days of Our Lives in the months and years ahead is going to surprise you.” Smiling he continued, “We work every day to elevate, strive and find out what these characters will do with their capable of, who they’re trying to push, surprise, who they want to get revenge on, who they are desperately in love with.”
The executive continued to explain the teams vision for the program, “We want Days of Our Lives to be challenging, surprising and new and fresh every day and sort of pushing the boundaries of how people feel, bringing you into our version of what you may be experiencing every day and give you an exciting ride.”
This November, Days of Our Lives will celebrate it’s 60th anniversary on screen with a celebratory gala honoring its past and future, with many returning faces.
Maxam joined Days of Our Lives in 2007 as a director for the soap opera. He worked his way up the ranks and was co-executive producer from 2008-2011. Afterwards he became a freelance director working on projects such as Hollywood Heights, The Young and the Restless as well as Days of Our Lives.
