Nut allergies are serious business, and when a favorite sweet and salty snack is mislabeled, it could spell danger. That’s unfortunately exactly the case with specific packages of Frederik’s Dark Chocolate Almonds, which grocery chain Meijer recently recalled for possibly containing dark chocolate-covered cashews in addition to almonds. However, the cashews are not declared on the packaging.
As the recall states, “People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to cashews run the risk of a serious of life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.”
The affected products are sold in black pouches and multi-pack boxes with sell-by dates of May 7, 2026, May 28, 2026, and May 5, 2026, and were sold in Meijer stores in Michigan, Kentucky, Ohio, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Additionally, the affected products contain the UPC codes of either 7-08820-68730-1 or 7-19283-11923-0.
Anyone with allergies or sensitivities to cashews should return the product to the customer service desk at any Meijer store for a full refund. While no illnesses have been reported thus far, it’s best to check your cabinets to ensure your safety.
