Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin just ended their relationship after eight on-and-off years together, and apparently The Materialists star is “doing well.” Oh, and according to a fresh update from an anon People source, “the split wasn’t exactly a shock” due to her and Chris having “the same issues for a while.”
“She wants to live her life very intentionally — she doesn’t want to have any regrets,” the insider said. “She loves all her creative projects and is excited about her career. She believes there is more to life than work though. She wants a meaningful life on all levels.”
This person didn’t go into details about what went wrong, but a source also dished to Page Six that Dakota “was sick of him dragging his feet on setting a date for the wedding,” while another person added that “They broke up over Chris Martin not wanting to have more kids.”
Meanwhile, an insider told the Daily Mail that Dakota and Chris’ relationship has actually “been over for a long time, they just haven’t been able to figure out to make it official.”
“Dakota held a flame for them to be together because she loved him so much and loved his kids so much,” they said. “Breakups aren’t instant and they continued to breakup and makeup and sometimes things would work when they were away from each other, while they were working because absence makes the heart grow fonder, but then they’d get back together and little things just kept adding up to where they weren’t right for each other anymore. Dakota is devastated that she isn’t going to be around his kids as much anymore, but wants them to know that she is always there for them.”
