Craig Melvin is sharing the one surprising food he absolutely can’t stand — and his Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie is in shock like the rest of us.
Melvin, 45, opened up about the one pantry staple he hates while the co-anchors chatted exclusively with Parade in a joint interview amid the release of the TODAY Loves Food cookbook, which features recipes from A-list chefs like Martha Stewart and Ina Garten, as well as the Today family’s Melvin, Guthrie, Dylan Dreyer, Al Roker, Carson Daly, Hoda Kotb and more.

“There are certain things that I don’t like. I don’t like peanut butter,” he told Parade, adding that he hates the food “with a passion, like, deep in my soul.”
Melvin continued: “It’s probably the only thing I don’t like. Like, I can’t. Just the smell. [I] never have [liked it]. Crunchy, creamy, it’s like, it doesn’t matter the brand. Everyone in my house [likes it]. Cleary Savannah does!”
Despite not liking the spread, Melvin insisted he loves “peanuts and butter” separately. Guthrie, who called peanut butter the “perfect food,” jokingly said to Melvin: “I don’t think we could be friends anymore.”

And while the pair will never share a similar stance on peanut butter, there is one thing Guthrie and Melvin can agree on food-wise: who the best Today chef is.
“Al Roker, easily. He’s a real foodie,” Guthrie said. “And he loves it. He cares about it. He curates it. I mean, Dylan’s a good little chef herself, but she’s more in the toddler food era.”
