Courtney Stodden has opened up about the devastating toll Chrissy Teigen’s past cyberbullying had on their mental health, revealing that they once came close to taking their own life.

In the new Hulu documentary “Impact x Nightline: Confessions of a Child Bride,” Courtney Stodden, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, candidly recalled the relentless online harassment they faced after their highly publicized marriage to actor Doug Hutchinson when they were just 16 years old.

At the time, Teigen was among those publicly mocking Stodden, infamously tweeting that it was her “dream” for them to take a “dirt nap,” a comment Stodden now says had a profound and dangerous impact.

“I did actually almost succeed at committing suicide because of … this was a huge part of it,” they shared in the documentary. “I had a suicide letter written.”

Breaking down mid-interview, the 30-year-old reflected on their darkest moment, saying, “I remember my last thought was, you know, ‘Maybe I don’t deserve to be here when people that high up are telling me I don’t deserve to be here.’”

Although Teigen’s tweets were originally posted in 2011 and 2012, they resurfaced nearly a decade later, sparking public outrage and costing Teigen several professional opportunities.

She ended up deleting her Twitter account, announcing, “Hey. For over 10 years, you guys have been my world. I honestly owe so much to this world we have created here. I truly consider so many of you my actual friends, but it’s time for me to say goodbye. This no longer serves me as positively as it serves me negatively, and I think that’s the right time to call something.”

Following Teigen’s departure from Twitter, Courtney Stodden came forward with allegations that the model had bullied them for years, both publicly and privately.

Stodden, who first made headlines in 2011 for their highly publicized marriage to actor Doug Hutchison at the age of 16, claimed that Teigen had targeted them online during the height of their media scrutiny.

“She wouldn’t just publicly tweet about wanting me to take ‘a dirt nap’ but would privately DM me and tell me to kill myself,” Stodden alleged in a 2021 interview with the Daily Beast. “Things like, ‘I can’t wait for you to die.’”

Screenshots of Teigen’s alleged tweets were shared by TMZ, including one where she reportedly told Stodden to “go to sleep forever.”

Stodden, who finalized their divorce from Hutchison in 2018, said they had endured relentless bullying from both the media and celebrities, but Teigen’s remarks were among the most damaging.

Amid mounting backlash, Teigen issued a public apology, acknowledging her past behavior and expressing deep regret.

“Not a lot of people are lucky enough to be held accountable for all their past bullshit in front of the entire world. I’m mortified and sad at who I used to be. I was an insecure, attention-seeking troll,” she wrote in a lengthy Twitter statement.

Teigen admitted that she was “ashamed and completely embarrassed” by her actions but acknowledged that her personal shame was nothing compared to how Stodden must have felt.

“I have worked so hard to give you guys joy and be beloved, and the feeling of letting you down is nearly unbearable, truly. These were not my only mistakes and surely won’t be my last as hard as I try, but god, I will try!!” she continued.

Teigen also claimed that she had attempted to reach out to Stodden privately but wanted to issue a public apology since she had fueled the harassment so publicly.

“I’m so sorry, Courtney. I hope you can heal now knowing how deeply sorry I am,” she wrote. “And I am so sorry I let you guys down. I will forever work on being better than I was 10 years ago, 1 year ago, 6 months ago.”

Courtney Stodden Claims They Remain Blocked By Teigen

However, Stodden previously told Page Six they remained blocked by Teigen on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, despite the public apology.

“I was speaking on this maybe for a few years before [Teigen said sorry],” they said in the new documentary. “I wish that she maybe could have apologized to me, like she said she did.”

Stodden admitted they weren’t moved by Teigen’s apology, feeling it was more about reputation damage control than genuine accountability.

The full documentary “Impact x Nightline: Confessions of a Child Bride” is now streaming on Hulu.
