  • Kelsey Noah and David Albin got married in a rainy wedding ceremony held at a cemetery in North Carolina on May 2

  • The bride, groom, and their 20 wedding guests all wore black for the big day

  • “We got very hung up on the ’til death do us part’ part of the traditional vows and thought, ‘Why don’t we begin this partnership where we will eventually end?’ ” Noah tells PEOPLE

A bride and groom took “till death do us part” literally for their wedding.

Kelsey Noah, 29, and David Albin, 32, have gone viral on TikTok for their haunting wedding venue. The pair married on Friday, May 2 at a local cemetery in Boone, North Carolina. Their “strangely wonderful wedding” was attended by approximately 20 guests.

“We got married in a cemetery because we’re spooky little weirdos 🖤💀,” the bride captioned a video of her rainy ceremony. Her clip has received more than 3.5 million views and 600,000 likes since being posted on Saturday, May 3.

“Honestly it’s kind of poetic. Start your marriage where you hope it will end (in living a long full life kind of way),” one TikTok user commented, with another adding, “Your final resting place is each other. What a vibe.”

Noah tells PEOPLE that her love story is one that “Morticia and Gomez [Addams] would be proud of.”

Like the matriarch of The Addams Family, Noah dressed in all-black instead of the traditional bridal white for her big day. Her long, jet black hair was adorned with a black lace tablecloth, which acted as a veil. It completed her off-the-shoulder lacey black dress. Minutes before the ceremony, Noah’s mother gave her a bouquet of blood-red carnations. Albin’s mother added a single black rose.

“Also, my wedding band says ’til death’ on it,” Noah notes.

Albin matched his bride’s gothic appearance by wearing a black trench coat over a black turtle neck.

“I have always been a fan of the macabre, and the horror genre as a whole has played a big role in who I am,” Noah explains. “When David and I met, he slowly began integrating these interests into his life as well. We got very hung up on the ’til death do us part’ part of the traditional vows and thought, ‘Why don’t we begin this partnership where we will eventually end?’ “

Although tying the knot among tombstones might have been a nightmare for some, it was a dream come true for Noah.

She describes her wedding as one “where love was felt in all stages of life and death. One that will last until we return to the ground under our very feet.”

Noah explained in another TikTok video that they “thoroughly researched” and “went out of [their] way” to ensure they were “respecting the grounds and the graves.” They specifically picked a day where there were “no burials.” Their ceremony was also less than 10 minutes long.

“Personally, I think the spirits loved to witness and feel how much love we have for each other,” she said. “I think we felt very gracious to do that in the eyes of them and in the face of life and death, and everything in between.”

Noah and Albin, who got engaged in 2023, are having a second wedding ceremony soon in Italy.

“The cemetery was meant to be small, but a way our close friends and loved ones could celebrate our love as well,” Noah tells PEOPLE.

When the couple of five years told their close circle that they’d be having their first wedding ceremony in a cemetery, they weren’t surprised.

“They say to be loved is to be known, and we are known. No one batted an eye almost as if this was expected,” Noah says. “I run a book club with the woman who officiated our wedding, Hannah, and many book club friends joined us that day alongside our families and even more longtime friends. Some share our love of the darker side of things and some do not but every single one of them showed up in all black outfits, in the rain and overjoyed for us.”

Noah is a customer analyst by day and “a horror and cozy genre dichotomy” book influencer by night. She often reviews “disturbing” and “grotesque” books on her TikTok, Instagram and YouTube accounts. She and Albin both work remotely and live in the Appalachian Mountains with their two cats, Seranna and Loomis (the latter of whom is named after “OG slasher” Billy Loomis from Scream).

“When we are not in the cemetery you can find us at home,” Noah shares. “Always at home where we are always caught up on the newest season of From, Yellowjackets, or anything Mike Flanagan creates.”
