Luke Bryan is opening up after getting hit in the face with what appeared to be a ball during his recent show at the North Dakota State Fair on Saturday (July 26).

Fans will recall that the country superstar, 49, was delivering a performance of his smash hit, “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)” in front of a large audience when an unruly fan whipped an object at the stage, hitting the Georgia hitmaker smack dab in the middle of his face.

A person who attended the concert happened to catch the moment in action and uploaded a clip of the brief episode on TikTok.

Per the video, Bryan seemed to handle the situation quite well, considering he didn’t anticipate the incident leading up to it. He continued to focus on his performance, instead of acting out against the concertgoer’s actions. But, in a recent interview with Taste of Country Nights, Bryan shared his reaction to the unwanted hit, saying, “It’s the last song of the night. It was a big ole fun party, and I think one person just took it too far.”

Bryan acknowledged that he’s not the only artist who has experienced a situation like his, saying, “We see it. Every other entertainer out there is getting stuff — you get stuff thrown at ya.”

“You hope that you can see who did it,” he added, insinuating that had he acted on impulse and caught the perpetrator, “I mean, if I saw him throw it, I could have gone right to him. I probably would have jumped right off in there.”

But he reasoned, “If I jump off in there … There were a lot of little kids down there. At that point, if I’d even stopped it and pointed somebody out, it kills the vibe of the show.”
