Carly Pearce is on the mend after suffering an unexpected injury earlier this week. The country artist, 35, revealed she cut her thumb during dinner while trying to open up a glass bottle of ranch.

The scary incident happened on Thursday, Aug. 7 after Pearce’s local show at The VOA Country Music Festival in Butler County, Ohio. And, it turns out the injury meant a trip to the emergency room for stitches afterward.

According to WLWT, Pearce shared a selfie that showed her holding her damaged thumb in the air while in the hospital with a few of her friends. The wounded finger appeared to already have a cast on it, with the Grammy-winning artist writing, “Last night was interesting! If you are coming to the shows this weekend, a salad dressing bottle got the best of me & ended with me having to get a few stitches in my thumb.”

On Saturday, Aug. 9, Pearce took to TikTok, updating fans further about the incident in a storytime, which had her applying makeup to her face. In the video, Pearce recounted the scary moment, saying that at first, she, her assistant, and her fiddle player didn’t think much of the cut on her thumb from the broken bottle of ranch.

“All of a sudden, I thought that ketchup was running down my hand, and it actually was blood,” Pearce said, adding that luckily, paramedics were nearby. “So we decided to have them just have a look at it to see if it had any glass in it or if it needed to be cleaned. And they told me that I needed a few stitches.”

Pearce said the paramedics thought her cut looked “Pretty deep,” which resulted in a trip to the hospital, per their suggestion.

“What I didn’t know was that the ride to the ER was going to be in an ambulance, and it’s policy that the patient has to sit on the stretcher and be strapped in,” Pearce said. “So they come in, take an X-ray to make sure there’s no glass in there, and say that I do need to have a couple stitches.”

Pearce went on to say that while she’s “so grateful that it was not worse and I’m obviously grateful that I’m going to be fine in like a week,” she has been forced to do things a little bit differently in terms of performing in front of her fans.

“The stitches are right in the crease of my thumb,” she explained. “So I’m kinda figuring out how to do things, not the way that I would. My assistant almost had to shave my left armpit because I didn’t think I could reach it.”

“I hold my microphone with my right hand, my dominant hand,” Pearce added, revealing that her dominant hand is the same hand that has stitches. “But it’s interesting trying to do those normal things like pull your pants up after you pee…..So the moral of the story is be careful opening things and don’t go like my mother says, like I do, like a bowl in a china cabinet.”

Thankfully, Pearce’s minor injury will not affect her upcoming concerts as she has a full schedule in the books, including a show as part of Little Big Town’s Summer Tour ‘25. For a full list of shows, go to Pearce’s official website, here.
