Country Singer Kaitlin Butts Fakes Wardrobe Malfunction During Concert to Set Up Best Friend’s Proposal

Kaitlin Butts is a bit of a romantic when it comes to her friends!

The country singer manufactured a faux wardrobe malfunction in the middle of her own show in Oklahoma City this weekend, just so her best friend and tour manager Sophia Wells could come on stage to help her fix it. Little did Wells know, her partner was kneeling behind her with a ring.

Butts shared the whole exchange, which began with a supposed issue with Butts’ black corset top, on TikTok. As Wells walked on stage to fix her friend’s corset ties, Butts reminisced on their friendship.

“You know, I’m actually kind of glad this is happening. [Wells and I] actually met here, in Oklahoma City, about 13 years ago — this is my college roommate!” Butts mused to the crowd, and Wells gave a shy grin. “Say hello to Sophia!”

After fixing Butts’ corset, Wells turned to leave, but Butts called her back to the stage’s center. Wells obliged and tried to hide her confusion as Butts went on.

Butts then shared that Wells had been dating one of her band members, and Butts herself had a key role in their meeting. About two years ago, Wells had messaged Butts on Instagram about guitar player Adam Duran, who was touring with Butts at the time. She told Butts the musician was “really cute and really hot — or am I just drunk?” Thinking of shooting her shot, Wells asked Butts if she needed a backup singer.

“I said, ‘No, but I need a tour manager!’ ” Butts told the crowd. “And she’s been working for me for the last two years, and I’m just honored to have her … and I think she should turn around right now, too.”

Behind Wells, Duran had dropped to one knee. The crowd erupted in cheers as Wells shook her head and doubled over in shock. Duran placed the ring on Wells’ finger, and as the couple embraced, Butts gleefully announced to the crowd, “She said yes!”

“10/10 recommend watching your best friends get engaged in front of 5k people,” Butts captioned her post.
