NEED TO KNOW

  • One fan-favorite Costco food court item has returned — but with one big modification

  • The superstore reintroduced its  Combo Pizza, but this time as a Combo Calzone

  • But the return of the item caused quite a divide between Costco customers

Costco has introduced the comeback of one food court item.

Earlier this month, the superstore announced that they were bringing back the Combo Pizza but with a twist. The new menu item will be a Combo Calzone. The $6.99 food item is a new take on the Combo Pizza, and will be stuffed with pepperoni, sausage, cheese, onions, peppers, olives and mushrooms, according to Southern Living.

Fans are divided on whether or not they’re looking forward to this new cheesy meal. In the r/Costco subreddit, most people aren’t impressed by the cheesy concoction.

“Those toppings sound familiar… It’s the combo pizza! We kept asking for it and it looks like they folded,” one user wrote.

Another added, “Seems like Costco will do anything but bring back the combo pizza.”

One customer said they tried it at a Lansing, Mich., store. “It’s alright. It’s kind of like a big slice folded on itself, so it has a ‘crust’ (which you can see in the photo). I felt like it was a little overcooked, but maybe it was just my location. I don’t think it’d be something I would get very often, but I don’t regret trying it. I think the regular pizza is better,” the user wrote.

Others commented that the promotional photos don’t sell the item. “I love calzones and I like pepperoni and sausage. That picture does not look enticing. I think the coloring is off and there is a distinct lack of cheese in the filling,” one Reddit user added. Another said, “They don’t look very good imo.”

While there was an outcry of shared disappointment, a few people expressed their excitement for the new dish. “Yes! It was perfection…” a user wrote, while another added, “Had one today, it was delicious!”

Instagram user Costco Buys also shared the news, showcasing the fresh item on the food court table. Like the Reddit thread, several users asked where the Combo Pizza is.

“They be doing anything but bring the combo pizza back,” someone commented. Another person echoed the sentiment and said, “They need to bring back combo pizza!!”

“Yep, I don’t really eat at the food court anymore because the Combo Pizza is gone and the amazing Churros. They always get rid of the food that’s good,” another comment read.
