President Trump brought conservative CNN commentator Scott Jennings on stage during his lively campaign-style rally Tuesday — and the analyst delivered a scorching zinger at Democrats during his quick appearance.
“He defends me all the time on CNN, and he defends me really well, but he can’t go too far because he’ll get fired,” Trump said of firebrand Jennings — who often clashes with his fellow pundits on the left-leaning network.
“Oh, CNN, this is the end of Scott,” the president joked as he brought the 47-year-old commentator up to the podium during the rally celebrating the first 100 days of his second term in Warren, Mich.
“Michigan, we were flying in here today, and I said, ‘Look at these farms. I’ve got to get a farm in Michigan — because when you own as many libs as I do, you gotta get a place to put them all,” Jennings said.
“Thank you all very much,” he added, shaking the president’s hand and leaving the stage as the MAGA crowd laughed.
Jennings has often “owned” libs whom he’s gotten the better of in debates on CNN.
On a panel earlier this month, he bested former MSNBC host Tiffany Cross during a conversation about colonization in which Cross called the conservative “irrelevant.”
“You got fired from your job. How relevant are you?” Jennings fired back.
He also slapped down smarmy former Biden administration official Neera Tanden during a testy back-and-forth debate about political violence last month.
“I’m sorry you’re getting emotional,” Tanden mocked during a tense moment.
“Yeah, I’m sorry you’re a condescending person who hasn’t been paying attention to what I do,” Jennings said at the end of the verbal tete-a-tete.
Jennings’ commentary has earned him more than just the praise from the president — it also led to a big pay raise and a new deal at CNN. However, the embattled network did not acquiesce to Jennings’ desire for his own show.
The Princeton, Ky., native is also being encouraged to run for the Senate seat currently occupied by Mitch McConnell, to whom Jennings has been a longtime adviser.
