Clueless will forever remain one of the most iconic teen movies of all time, but that doesn’t mean the stars of the cult classic comedy didn’t experience any pressures on set.
In a preview clip of the May 1 episode of the “That’s Total Mom Sense” podcast — which Parade can exclusively reveal — actress Elisa Donovan got candid with hosts Kanika Chadda Gupta and Samantha Danielle as part of their new miniseries, “Parenting in the Digital Age,” about what it was like on set. Donovan, 54, portrayed Amber in the film.

“It’s funny. Alicia [Silverstone] and I just spoke about this recently, which we had never done. She was like, ‘It was really stressful.’ And I said, ‘Yeah. Ditto!’ Like, it was very stressful,” Donovan explained. “And certainly more so for her, in different ways. [I remember] being worried, like, ‘Am I too fat?’ Just all of that crazy stuff.”
She continued: “It was tough. But at the same time, super fun. So, you know, it’s complicated. Everyone always wants to hear like, [it was] perfect and fun and great. It was great, but it was also challenging, for sure.”
In addition to Donovan and Silverstone, Clueless stars Paul Rudd, Stacey Dash, Donald Faison, Breckin Meyer, the late Brittany Murphy and more. The comedy’s 30th anniversary is just around the corner, as it hit theaters in July 1995.

In addition to its milestone anniversary, Clueless fans have another reason to celebrate. Earlier this month, it was announced that a sequel series was in development at Peacock, with Silverstone set to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz.
