Christian McCaffrey has some dad guilt as football preseason heats up.
The San Francisco 49ers running back has been busy in training camp ahead of the NFL season after welcoming baby daughter Colette Annalise with his wife, Olivia Culpo, in July.
“I feel guilty at times,” McCaffrey, 29, explained in an interview with the NFL Network on Tuesday, August 5. “I’m sleeping well in the hotel bedroom while [Olivia’s] doing the dirty work. But I’m super thankful for her and she’s doing an incredible job.”
McCaffrey added that Culpo, 33, has “been great” and that both of their moms have been helping out with baby Colette so he can “train and keep football first.”

Culpo and Colette have been able to visit McCaffrey at “a couple” of practices now, which he said has been “incredible.”
“Getting done with practice, whether you’ve had a good day or a bad day, being able to go there and see your daughter is … it’s very special,” he added.
McCaffrey and Culpo married in June 2024 after five years together. The model and former Miss Universe has been a huge support for the 49ers star, rocking his number and team colors with fashion-forward ensembles in the stands week after week.
“You are the hardest worker with the biggest heart,” Culpo wrote on Instagram when celebrating their anniversary in June 2021. “Getting to see you work your butt off every single day to make your dreams come true has been such an inspiration to me and your sincerity in everything you do makes me feel like the luckiest girl in the world.”
Nowadays, Culpo has traded in her game day ‘fits for comfy loungewear as she cares for her newborn baby.
“Mommy-daughter matching, diapers and all 🥳,” Culpo captioned a photo via Instagram on July 17 of the pair wearing matching robes.
Culpo has been open about her postpartum recovery following a C-section. The former reality star called her birth “the scariest and most rewarding of all experiences,” noting that she felt “most at peace” with McCaffrey by her side.

She’s also been sharing tips for staying hydrated and nourished while breast-feeding, posting a video via TikTok of her bedside “caddies” filled with everything from snacks and medicine to boob massagers and TV remotes.
“When you have a C-section you can’t get out of bed… I couldn’t get out of bed for a few days,” she explained. “You can’t go down the stairs. You need to make sure you have everything next to you, and a lot of that can be very overwhelming.”
On her nightstand she also had a mini fridge, breast pump and a little bell so she could ring for help if she needed anything.
“It reminds me of my mom every time I see it,” she said, making a sad face.
