Did it just get brattier at the Met Gala, or is it just Charli XCX?
This year, the Grammy award-winning artist walked the red carpet in an outfit that was, naturally, unforgettable. Her look was a perfect blend of edgy, elegant, and true to her signature style. Wearing an all-black outfit with a black blazer on top of a black tank top with statement feathers down her chest and a transparent skirt. The same feathery look was mimiced the headpiece she wore on top of her high ponytail. To summarize, it was very much gothic chic.
For some extra drama, which we know Charli loves to mix in with her outfits, she paired her outfit with black leather high boots that passed her knees.
As for her glam, it felt like the perfect match and a natural extension to her outfit. She kept it sultry and grunge with a mauve lip and a glittery eyeshadow across her eyelids.
Of course, her 2024 appearance is still fresh in our minds. The singer made waves in a custom Marni gown made entirely of vintage T-shirts, stitched together with rhinestones and glass beads. It’s a look that took fifteen seamstresses from Marni’s Milan atelier 200 hours to hand-sew.
Complementing the gown was a nod to ’90s grunge with her makeup for the evening. Makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench crafted a romantic gothic aesthetic using MAC products, featuring a dark, soft lip and sculpted eyes with a glossy lid. Hairstylist Matt Benns completed the look with a spiky bun, adding to the punk-inspired vibe.
