Oh, Mary! is a campy, queer, thrill-ride of a Broadway show, so what better place for Chappell Roan to be in the audience?
On Thursday evening, “The Giver” singer stopped by the Lyceum Theatre in New York City, where she took in Cole Escola’s hilarious masterwork that recently earned five Tony nominations.
For her night out at the theater, Roan chose a romantic baby-blue gown that brought a little bit of drama to an evening already full of it, and as it turns out, the look was a 1930s piece sourced from 1stDibs.
The dress featured a plunging scoop neckline and straight silhouette, with a scalloped bottom hem and diagonal silk stripes swirling across Roan’s body like a barber pole.
Up top, the neckline featured two dainty strings, which Roan tied across her chest into a bow. But the biggest statement of all came courtesy of the sleeves, which featured tiers of ruffled material like feathers, with alternating swathes of shiny and matte fabric for a dappled effect.
To complete her look, Roan added a pair of brown leather boots from Miista, which were embossed with etchings of florals and leafy swirls, while also featuring square toes and short kitten heels. For jewelry, the pop star kept things simple by slipping on some silver rings.
After the show, Roan was seen posing with members of the cast like Escola, James Scully, Bianca Leigh, and more. Seeing all the photos, I couldn’t help but think… we need to get Chappell on the Broadway stage, stat.
