Celebrity stylist Jessica Paster is speaking out about an incident that occurred ahead of the 2025 Met Gala.

In video footage captured by Reuters, Paster can be seen wearing a gray sweatshirt and sweatpants while being escorted away from the main lobby entrance of The Carlyle Hotel, where many Met Gala attendees get ready for the event. Reuters set up a live feed to record celebrities coming and going from the hotel.

The stylist got into a scuffle with cops and security, where she was reportedly heard in the footage telling them, “I’m staying at this hotel,” according to Page Six.

Paster, who styled Met Gala guests Olympian Simone Biles, Quinta Brunson and Miranda Kerr, recounted the event to Page Six, claiming that she was “manhandled” by police.

“I want to say that I am just a person staying at a hotel minding my own business, having the credentials on my wrist and I got manhandled,” she told the outlet.

She continued, “I listened to people. They said go through the service door and when I did, they said go back to the lobby. And all of a sudden they attacked me, they manhandled me.”

Paster also said she was “in a lot of pain,” and “she [the cop] is lucky she didn’t break my arms.”

In a statement from the NYPD shared with PEOPLE, “a female attempted to enter the main entrance of the Carlyle Hotel when she was stopped and denied entry by hotel security” on the afternoon of Monday, May 5.

The statement continued, “the individual attempted to enter the hotel a second time after being denied when officers intervened and stopped the female from entering. She was told she needed to go through the service entrance and obtain proper credentials. This female was escorted to the service entrance by police where she was then re-escorted to the main entrance by hotel security and allowed entry.”

Paster and The Carlyle Hotel have not responded to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Paster previously came under fire for the pink Dior dress she styled Brunson in for the 2024 Emmys. The dress appeared wrinkled in photos from the event, sparking commentary online.

One user wrote on Instagram, “I like the color, though not sure if it suits her but the creases! How was she allowed out?” Another wrote, “Love the shape, hate the wrinkles. I know it’s supposed to be wrinkled with intention but it just looks like it [wasn’t] steamed enough. Like it needed to be all the way wrinkled if that makes sense.”

“Who forgot to iron this dress 😥 (I know this is how it’s supposed to be but no, just- no),” said another.

Paster defended the look in the comments, writing, “guys guys guys… it’s crushed satin… I knew you were gonna say something!! It’s beautiful silhouette [sic] on her and fabric… and the color is gorgeous on her.”
