Cardi B is never afraid to make a major statement on the red carpet, especially when it comes to the annual Met Gala.
For fashion’s biggest night this year, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper did away with her usual preference for over-the-top gowns and voluminous ensembles. Instead, the Grammy winner went with a more pared back silhouette in an eye-popping color, opting for a tailored velvet number in a forest green hue from Burberry. The suit included a transparent ruffled undershirt—with a plunging neckline—and Cardi B incorporated a pear-shaped diamond pendant necklace and dangling earrings to complete the look. The eccentric red carpet moment joins the long lineage of iconic Met Gala moments from the Grammy winner since her very first appearance at the annual event back in 2018.
As for her glam for the evening, the star opted to match her makeup to her outfit and wore a sleek swatch of pale green eye shadow paired with her hair styled in a textured, angular bob.
Cardi B and her longtime stylist Kollin Carter have created a number of memorable looks together over the years with tonight’s look being the latest to stem from their collaborative relationship. The rapper previously opened up last year about the pressure to consistently up the ante on the red carpet to The Hollywood Reporter.
“We always try to make sure that everything goes right, that everything be iconic. We want everything to be iconic,” she told the outlet. “I know people sometimes be like, ‘Oh, it’s not about who is there and who is not,’ but it’s like, no, you need to remember us forever.”
