California Pizza Kitchen is no stranger to unusual but delicious pizza combinations, from rosemary potato and chicken to carne asada to Thai chicken (my personal favorite).
But its latest creation is pushing the boundaries in favor of a “love it or hate it” trend.

In a statement shared with Parade, the pizza chain said its new frozen creation “is combining two fan favorite foods – pickles and pizza – to unveil a new dill-licious flavor innovation just in time for prime pickle season.”
Framing the dill pickle pizza as “the ultimate cheesy and tangy pizza combination,” California Pizza Kitchen is “calling all pickle stans” to the table.
The frozen pizza, which will be available in May at select Target locations for around $8.49, “features real dill pickles, rich mozzarella cheese and flavorful dill seasoning over a creamy garlic sauce all on top of a crispy thin crust,” per the brand.
This isn’t the first time a major pizza chain has added pickles to its menu, with Domino’s Japan introducing a pickle pizza recently.

Pizza Hut released a Nashville hot chicken pizza with pickles at a New York City restaurant in 2023, and hamburger pizza, which often features pickles, can be found at pizza restaurants around the country.
This isn’t a first for frozen pizzas either, as both Good & Gather, an in-house Target brand, and Caulipower, a frozen cauliflower crust pizza, have both made frozen pickle pizzas.
