California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Vice President JD Vance found themselves at odds again this weekend after Vance visited Disneyland in California with his family.

The two traded blows over X, formerly known as Twitter, on Saturday.

Newsom criticized the vice president’s trip to his state amid rising tensions between the governor and the Trump administration, which has been deploying the military to California to assist in immigration raids.

“JD is back in California. He won’t take the time to debate and defend gutting our Medicaid system, taking away kids’ school meals, militarizing America’s streets, or adding trillions to the debt,” Newsom said. “Instead, he’s off to Disneyland. Probably to detain Mickey Mouse at this rate.”

The California Governor referenced a previous post where he challenged Vance to a debate, to which the vice president declined to respond.

Vance responded to Newsom’s latest post on Sunday, saying, “Had a great time, thanks.”

Not the first exchange

The exchange was far from the first time Newsom and Vance found themselves at loggerheads online.

Last month, as the Trump administration deployed National Guard troops to crack down on protests against immigration raids in Los Angeles, the President suggested to reporters that Newsom should be arrested.

The San Francisco native criticized the president’s comments in a social media post.

“The President of the United States just called for the arrest of a sitting Governor. This is a day I hoped I would never see in America,” he wrote on X. “I don’t care if you’re a Democrat or a Republican, this is a line we cannot cross as a nation — this is an unmistakable step toward authoritarianism.”

Vice President Vance joined the fray at the time as well, writing, “Do your job. That’s all we’re asking.”
