‘Building the Band’ Winner 3QUENCY Shares What’s Next (Exclusive) originally appeared on Parade.

If you tuned into the inaugural season of Netflix’s Building the Band — a “first-of-its-kind music competition” where “50 participants took part in blind auditions,” ultimately forming six bands, sight unseen— you would know that 3QUENCY emerged victorious in the end.

Beating out SZN4, Iconyx (formerly Soulidified), Midnight Til Morning, Sweet Seduction and Siren Society, 3QUENCY — consisting of Brianna Mazzola, Wennely Quezada and Nori Royale — blew the judges away with their top-notch singing and dancing skills, ultimately taking home the cash prize over SZN4 come finale night.

Now, with $500,000 to their name, 3QUENCY has been hard at work, singing, dancing, writing, recording and producing nonstop as they continue to form a solid foundation for their oh-so successful career as the next big girl band.

Sitting down with Parade for an exclusive interview, the girls spilled all of the behind-the-scenes secrets surrounding their time on Building the Band, but they also gave us a glimpse into what’s next for 3QUENCY. Keep scrolling to see for yourself.

“Life has looked like so much in the last year,” Brianna said to kick off the conversation, catching us up on what has happened since filming for Building the Band wrapped last summer.

“We got back from the show, took like two weeks rest — and texted each other the entire two weeks ‚ and then we’re like, ‘So when’s everybody coming to LA?’ And then everybody went to LA,” she gushed. “We spent a few weeks out there. We took some meetings, met with some pretty cool people that we happen to be working with now, and that’s just been really exciting.”

The Philly native continued, “Ever since then, we started working with our team and getting in the studio, and now we’re currently in Orlando working out of a compound, and it’s been really exciting.”

Working with “some pretty cool people” as we speak, Brianna then confirmed that 3QUENCY has not “used the past year incorrectly,” promising tons and tons of new tunes to come.

The 24-year-old elaborated, “We have been in and out of the studio with some really dope producers. We’ve pulled some records out of our arsenal from our past — rediscovered and reimagined them — so there’s a lot that’s happening, but we are ready to press go.”

“It’s our baby, so we’re taking our time with it,” Nori chimed in. “When it’s ready to come out, you guys will be the first ones to know to see it.”

“It’s coming y’all. It’s coming y’all. Just be patient,” Wennely added, before discussing what kind of music that she and her bandmates have been working on recently.

Being from the Dominican Republic and sharing a great deal of Spanish covers to her TikTok profile, Wennely teased that 3QUENCY may or may not be tying her passion for Latin music into their overall sound.

“I have always wanted to do a Latin record with the girls, and they’ve also been open to it. You know, we wanna incorporate Latin, R&B, pop — everything that we can get our hands on, we’ll probably do, but it’s definitely a conversation,” she spilled.

While their voices are nothing short of sensational, Brianna, Wennely and Nori also blew the judges and viewers away with their dancing skills on Building the Band, which were primarily highlighted during their performance of “Have Mercy” in the finale of the beloved competition series.

Because of this, the girls confirmed that they have “been in dance rehearsals” as well, with Brianna admitting that they have been “really utilizing everything” that they have available at their compound in Orlando, Florida — the dance studio to the recording booth and beyond.

With new tunes aside, 3QUENCY also teased that they will be bringing their singing and dancing skills to the big stage, with plans to tour sooner than we may think. Recently, Building the Band group Midnight Til Morning announced their first set of shows, and Brianna admitted that “they’re not the only ones who wanna be on the road.”

“We’ve got plans, we’ve got plans, we’ve got plans, but nothing we can share quite yet. Things aren’t packaged, but they’re being wrapped,” she teased.

Nevertheless, concluding the conversation, Wennely spoke on behalf os 3QUENCY, expressing the trio’s gratitude for all of the love they’ve received since Building the Band aired.

“We are super, super, super thankful for all the support that we’ve gotten so far,” she gushed. “All of the love has been insane, and we see it all the time in the comments. We just wanna say thank you and that we’re super grateful for all of you guys.”
