Bruce Springsteen fans, rejoice!
The 20-time Grammy Award winner, 75, just released “Repo Man,” the first song off of his unreleased country album, Somewhere North Of Nashville.
Springsteen recorded Somewhere North Of Nashville in 1995 while simultaneously creating The Ghost of Tom Joad.
“What happened was I wrote all these country songs at the same time I wrote The Ghost of Tom Joad. Those sessions completely overlap each other. I’m singing ‘Repo Man’ in the afternoon and ‘The Line’ at night. So the country record got made right along with The Ghost of Tom Joad,” Springsteen explained in a statement.
“‘Streets of Philadelphia’ got me connected to my socially conscious or topical songwriting. So that’s where The Ghost of Tom Joad came from,” he continued. “But at the same time I had this country streak that was also running through those sessions and I ended up making a country record on the side.”

On June 27, Springsteen will be releasing Tracks II: The Lost Albums, a box set of seven complete LPs recorded at different times throughout his career. Thus far, the New Jersey native has shared a handful of tracks early, including “Rain In The River,” “Blind Side,” and “Faithless.”
In addition to new music, Springsteen and the E Street Band are still going strong on tour. “At this late date, like we say in the film, we’re going to be rolling until the wheels come off,” the “Born to Run” artist told Vanity Fair in an April interview.
The tour began on February 1, 2023, and is set to conclude on July 3, 2025.
“I mean there’s a lot of reasons bands stay together. You know, money. Uh … money. And money,” Springsteen joked. “So in our case, we’re lucky. Our band still legitimately likes one another. The film sort of encapsulates an amazing thing—the band remains as committed to its ideals as it was from the beginning.”
