NEED TO KNOW

  • Brooks Nader and her three sisters opened up to PEOPLE about what their family in Louisiana thinks of their reality show, Love Thy Nader

  • They say they had to get ahead of the “surprises” everyone was going to see when they watched

  • They also reveal that their parents were very supportive of the idea of putting their lives on TV

The Naders are always sure to stay true to themselves.

As their new reality series, Love Thy Nader, premieres, Brooks, Mary Holland, Grace Ann and Sarah Jane Nader tell PEOPLE they did not hold back in front of cameras. After growing up in a conservative town in Louisiana, the four sisters explain how their family is reacting to them sharing their lives with the world.

“With our family members back home in Louisiana, obviously, they were like, ‘Whoa, you’re going to be on television, like the real TV?’” Brooks, 28, reveals. “So I think that they were shocked but not shocked, because it’s very us. However, they have no idea what they’re about to watch. We watched the first three episodes and we were like …”

“A lot of surprises coming,” Mary Holland, 26, laughs before Sarah Jane, 23, quips, “Already doing some damage control.”

Brooks notes that she and her sisters have “always been very comfortable” being their authentic selves, “from running around the house naked as kids to doing it in New York.”

When it comes to their parents, she says nothing surprises them anymore.

“The funniest part about us is that we didn’t ask [about doing the show], we just told them,” Brooks laughs. “So when I told them, ‘Hey, we’re doing a reality show,’ they’re just kind of like, ‘You could tell us that you’re going to be like the queen of a random Caribbean island. I’d be like, okay.’ I mean, nothing shocks them anymore.”

“They’re so supportive,” she shares. “They’re hosting huge watch parties in Baton Rouge as we speak, sending texts to every club that they’re a member of, trying to get everyone to watch.”

When she first moved to New York City at 19 years old, Brooks recalls her dad giving her $1000 and telling her she would have to find a way to support herself — or “find a boyfriend.”

“Which I did, thank God, for just the rent purposes,” she jokes about her previous marriage to Billy Haire.

“So I think that since that moment, [my dad has] been like, ‘Okay, whatever they do, I’m going to trust that they’re going to be okay,’” she says. “We are very independent.”

Brooks and her sisters have always been extremely close, and now they live together in an NYC apartment, which she admits “is a struggle” sometimes.

“I’m thinking about moving out,” Mary Holland teases.

Grace Ann notes: “One of us is on the chopping block each day.”

“I’m excited for people to see that even though we fight and we sometimes fight really badly, and we say things that are really bad, and people will be like, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe you’d say that to your sister,’” she continues. “I want everybody to see that we can come fully back around and be best friends. Even if I say, ‘I hate you, I don’t want you in my life,’ obviously that’s not true.”
