NEED TO KNOW

  • A man’s new wife caused a scene at his daughter’s wedding by throwing a “temper tantrum”

  • In a post on Reddit, the bride listed all of the woman’s disruptive wedding behavior, including her calling the food “s—–” and getting into a fight

  • Reddit users were sympathetic toward the bride, and blamed her father for doing nothing about his wife’s “outbursts”

Wedding drama unfolded as an adult guest threw a fit.

In a post on Reddit’s “Wedding Drama” forum, a bride said that she “needed to vent” because her father’s new wife caused a scene at her wedding. Even though the bride, along with her siblings and paternal relatives, dislikes the woman due to her “controlling” nature and “very hurtful” behavior, she had to be invited, or else the father of the bride wouldn’t attend the wedding.

“Any time she doesn’t get her way, she has an ‘outburst’ and my dad takes the path of least resistance and just does what she says, even if it comes at the cost of hurting his kids,” the bride shared for context.

The bride’s only request was that her father’s wife skip the intimate rehearsal dinner because she “didn’t want any drama happening the night before the wedding.” Despite the bride’s father previously agreeing to this plan, he changed his mind a week before the event. He told his daughter that he wouldn’t go to her rehearsal dinner unless his wife was welcome.

“I stood my ground and said I’d see them on the wedding day. That seemed to have set her off…” the bride wrote.

At the wedding, the woman made her presence known, arriving in a “bright red, sparkly mini dress.”

“Multiple guests were overhead asking ‘who the stripper in the dress was,’ ” the bride remembered.

Before the ceremony, the woman cried. She “refused” to stand up as the bride’s mother and father walked her down the aisle.

At cocktail hour, the woman “sulked and disappeared” during group family photos, despite the bride having invited her to join them.

The drama continued into the reception, where the woman “loudly said that she ‘didn’t want to eat any of the s—– food’ that was being served for dinner,” a comment which especially upset the elders at the celebration. She then got into a heated “fight” with the bride’s father, even throwing her drink at him at one point.

Later in the night, she repeatedly “disappeared” to drink alcohol in her car. When she reappeared, it was “just to sulk and cry in the corner.”

Overall, the bride was still able to have a great wedding, but now she’s trying to figure out whether or not she should confront her father about his wife’s “concerning behavior.”

Most commenters advised the bride not to confront her father because they think he’s already well aware of her problematic behavior, and that nothing will change after their conversation.

“He knows what she is, but doesn’t care as long as he’s getting what he wants. OP (original poster)’s better off keeping distance, let him deal with the fallout when it all crashes,” one person wrote.

Another Redditor agreed: “He definitely knows, just choosing the easier road, even if it sucks for everyone else.”
